The Women’s Professional Conference Experience & Impact Study

Examining the impact of professional conferences on women’s careers.

Conferences play an essential role in providing networking opportunities and continued education for professionals across every industry. Yet, these professional experiences are left out of major studies examining equity gaps for women at work.

To begin to fill this void in national research, The Women's Professional Conference Experience & Impact Study was launched in September of 2018 in partnership with Dr. Emerald Archer, Director of the Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount Saint Mary’s University and Brady Hahn, Founder of Brady Hahn Consulting and Insight Collective to examine if and how professional conferences are impacting women’s equity in the workplace.

As part of the study, a national survey of professional women was conducted to better understand their experiences as conference attendees - their motivations for attending, their desires in regards to content and programming, and even their experiences of sexual harassment - making this the first study of its kind to collect data on the subject.
